The Brief

The existing site has been demolished and prepared for re-development under the Investment in local Business programme to provide additional opportunity to local Business in the London Borough of Bexley. The new two storey buildings incorporate improved access for all facilities and comfortable staff accommodation.

The Approach

K H Engineering Services Limited worked with the client to offer construction solutions that were conducive to a brownfield site that had a storm drain to its perimeter. The site was adjacent the River Cray and potentially within the 100-year flood plain at this location.

The Challenges

The interface between the environment agency and the local planners required regular team meetings. This was needed so that we could ensure successful delivery whilst protecting the environment. The site was abutted to the river Cray and it was essential to ensure that the method of construction was suitable to offer the client future flood protection cover.

The Delivery

Careful, co-ordinated delivery was applied so that the various trades all had continuity of their tasks throughout the project. Typical delays were avoided as we managed the material deliveries out of normal working hours. This ensured the neighbouring businesses experienced minimal disruption and we subsequently won a number of local projects, as a result of our performance.

The Outcome

The new buildings are modern and are still maintained by K H Engineering Services Limited.
